Crime Prevention
If a criminal hazard, crime trend or potential threat is identified the department will make every effort to alert the campus community. Media such as the Campus Newspaper, e-mail, voice mail and flyers will be used to broadcast the information.
The University of Missouri-St. Louis Police Department supports proactive Crime Prevention to make our campus and living areas a safer place to learn, live and work.
Some of our efforts are:
RED telephones throughout the buildings and BLUE emergency telephones on the parking lots.
24-hour preventative patrol
Burglar alarms in key areas
Property engraving program (Project IDENT)
Crime prevention seminars conducted by a crime prevention officer
Crime prevention material
Escort service by police officers
Emergency vehicle service (jump-starts, open locked doors, etc.)
Triton Watch Program
Closed circuit television monitoring of selected parking and student housing areas.
Card Access systems on residential doors and selected other areas throughout the campus
Community Orientated Police (COPS) officers assigned to the residential areas
The department encourages staff, faculty and students to avail themselves of the services provided by our Crime Prevention Officer. Contact the department at 516-5155 to schedule a seminar or obtain crime prevention materials.
